College Prep Learning
What you learn at Wye River looks a lot like what you’d learn at most high-quality college preparatory schools. Students move through a rigorous curriculum of college prep courses—English, math, visual and performing arts, social studies, science, and foreign language.
But then there’s how you learn, and here that works a little differently.
Classes are small—just 6 to 8 students on average. Lesson plans, daily schedules, classroom configurations, desk arrangements all are designed with the needs of students who learn differently in mind.
Students have customized learning plans to identify their areas of academic need. Teachers are creative and flexible—if one approach doesn’t work, they’ll try another, and then another. They will find student strengths and create opportunities for students to use those strengths. What they won’t do is give up on a student.
