Planning For Fall 2020
As we move into the dog-days of summer and leave behind what was hopefully the peak of COVID in our geographic region, we must all continue to plan for the future and take steps to mitigate the threats this virus poses to our health and well-being in our personal and professional lives.
Back in May, a team at WRUS began the initial stages of planning for the 2020-2021 school year. As you can imagine this is a great undertaking, but we are committed to our preparedness as well as the health and well-being of all those in our school community. As much of our planning hinges on the mandates and guidance from the CDC, departments of health, MSDE, and AIMS, we are unable to declare a final plan or schedule for the new school year and there are still many unknown factors and uncertainties. However, we wanted to share with you the three scenarios for which we have been rigorously planning: Campus Learning, Distance Learning, and Hybrid Learning. Below you will find a summary of each scenario and what it entails.
It should also be mentioned that depending on the risk the virus presents to our community at the time of re-opening and the constraints mandated by those governing authorities, there may be a need for us to adapt and evolve these scenarios to meet those challenges and limiting factors, such as capacity allowance in the building and on transportation, feasibility of physical distancing in shared spaces, and availability of PPE. We will also look for your partnership in limiting the potential spread of COVID in regards to monitoring your students for fevers, restricting their access to the building when sick, and using your parental discretion to sustain a healthy school environment. That said, we are committed to providing each and every Wye River student with a robust and safe educational experience in the upcoming year and as a team will design the scenario to meet all our students' needs.
As always, we thank you for your continued support and patience as we make our preparations for next year. We also welcome your feedback, and ask that you use the linked Google Form below to share with us any questions, queries, or appreciations you have regarding our planning for 2020-2021.
