Zoe Brown, Student
"During freshman year in public school, because I wasn’t getting the help I needed, my grades weren’t good. I thought of myself as stupid in a way because I thought it was me that was the problem and I didn’t know how to fix it. That really brought me down.
"Teaching at Wye River is completely different. Teachers know how to teach—they check in with you and make sure you are checking your grades and turning things in. If you would have told me a couple of years ago that I would be in National Honor Society, I wouldn’t have believed you.
"The students here brought out a different side of me that I didn’t know I had. I was more of a follower before, but now I am more of a leader. I have close friends and it’s made school a lot more fun—it gives me a good reason to actually want to come to school."
Zoe Brown, currently a senior, will attend St. Mary's College in fhe fall. She plans to study science, play field hockey, and study abroad.
