Mindfulness is a way of being in the world. It is stepping out of our autopilot tendencies - our propensity to worry about what is coming next or what has already happened, and bring deliberate awareness to the present moment. Anyone can benefit from this practice and it is especially helpful to parents and adolescents to learn the practice of mindfulness.
This workshop will provide you with an overview of the neuroscience behind mindfulness and adolescent brain development. Monica Jordan, M.Ed., MCMBT, will teach you effective whole brain strategies to connect to your child and methods to help rewire the neuro pathways which encourage the positive life skills your child needs.
Being a parent is incredibly rewarding as well as demanding. We sometimes sacrifice our own needs along the way, leading to physical and emotional exhaustion. This may lead to lack of motivation, as well as feeling anxious and depressed; however, it does not need to be that way.
Taking care of yourself is the best gift you can give to your children. Unless you learn to nurture yourself, your loved ones may suffer the consequences. As a parent, guardian, or educator you have a direct impact on how your child’s brain is wired and how they learn to manage life’s challenges with self-awareness and peace. Join Monica to begin the first step to understanding and embarking on your own journey to mindful living.
