Courtney McNeal, Graduate

“I had been in public school and I was struggling in that big environment. I wanted to learn, but I wasn’t getting the tools to learn. It was frustrating. I’d go home in tears and tell my dad I didn’t want to go to school the next day.

“Wye River gave me the tools and the motivation to be successful. The teachers are pros—they know how to teach kids with learning differences. In the classroom and in sports you’re part of a group, a family, and I really fell in love with that. The School opened up a bunch of doors for me, in many, many ways.

“Being a little older now I can appreciate what it meant to have a parent step up and send me to Wye River. That was pretty awesome. It’s probably the best decision you’ll make for yourself and your child. It makes everybody’s life better.”

After graduating from Wye River, Courtney McNeal went to college in Pittsburgh. Her love of animals led her to do an internship at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
