Academics: Technology

At WRUS, we implement technology across the curriculum. Every student and teacher uses an Apple laptop. The use of laptops creates positive outcomes including:

  • Access to assistive technologies for students with language-based learning disabilities.
  • More effective organizational skills.
  • Audio and visual production skills.
  • Greater connection to real-world experts.
  • Student engagement and deeper understanding of material.

Some examples of programs our students utilize include:

  • iMovie - to record and edit their own short movies and slide presentations.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Garage Band - to compose, record and arrange personal and ensemble music performances.
  • Google Apps for email, calendar and file sharing
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Inspiration - to create concept maps and graphic organizers

Tech
"Most educational institutions haven't even begun to think about how to use the newest technologies in sophisticated ways to reform education and make it more effective. It is wonderful to have a school in our neighborhood that is already moving in the right direction." - Thomas G. West, Advisor to the Board
