Mr. Angarita
During the week of April 1-4 Mr. Rob Levit joined the music class as Artist in Residence. Mr. Levit came to WRUS through a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. He is a guitarist, composer and educator and he was described by the Ottawa International Jazz Festival as "...one of the finest young guitarists on today's jazz scene."
Throughout the residency Mr. Levit challenged the students to perform at a new and higher level and instructed them as to blues and jazz styles and improvisation. The music class listened to different jazz excerpts and identified elements of music such as the instruments, melody, harmony and rhythm.
On the final day the students performed the material instructed during the residency for the school community, under the direction of Mr. Levit.
